Who we’re looking for
Tutors
Elementary & middle school
Pre-K through 8th grade: reading & ELA, math, science, social studies, foreign language, homework help, and study skills. You build real rapport with a kid and can explain one idea three ways until it clicks.
Club Leaders
Small groups, 2nd to 5th grade
You lead 3 to 6 kids at a time, at a neighborhood shop on Saturdays or online in Business Lab, App Lab, and Homework Club. You ask good questions instead of handing over answers, and you're at ease using AI with kids.
Birthday Party Specialists
Planning, day-of, or both
You take a parent's half-formed idea (a theme, a headcount, a date) and turn it into a party that actually comes together, at home, in a park, or at a venue anywhere in NYC.
The Activities Insider
Weekends and trips
You're the parent every group chat asks “what's good this weekend?” and you always have an answer, indoors or out, free or splurge. You help families plan weekends and trips.

Am I an employee?
No. Everyone on the Surehand team works as an independent 1099 contractor, so you decide when and how much you work.
How do I get paid?
You earn a revenue share on each job you do. We'll walk you through the numbers for the work you do on the intro call.
Do I need to bring my own clients?
No. Surehand brings the families. You don't need a client list, a website, or to market yourself.
How much do I have to work?
That's up to you. Set your own schedule and take the jobs that fit it.
Is there a background check?
Yes. Everyone who works with Surehand families completes a background check before their first job, along with an interview and a reference check.
Where is the work?
Across NYC's five boroughs. Tutoring can also be online. Homework Club, App Lab, and Business Lab are online, and Local Business Detectives visits shops in Midtown East.
