App Lab
Over 2 Saturday mornings online, each kid builds a small app of their own, like a quiz, a game, or a chore tracker. They don't write code. They tell AI what they want, check its plan, test what it builds, and fix what breaks, with a club leader coaching them.

What they learn, what they make, and what you see
They learn
Planning before building
Picking an idea small enough to finish, and deciding what the app should do first.
Saying exactly what they want
They type or say what they want. The AI answers with a short plan in kid words, and they say yes or change the ask before anything is built.
Testing with real players
The other kids play their app and say what's fun and what's confusing. They decide what to fix and fix it one change at a time, going back a version if a change makes it worse.
How AI really works
It's fast, it makes mistakes, and checking its work is their job.
They make
A working app of their own
It plays in a browser on a laptop or iPad, and it's saved on their App Lab card in your family's workspace.
You get
A demo, and the app to keep
Your child shows you their app in the last 10 minutes. After that you can play it anytime, and share a private link with family if you want.
Two sessions, step by step
Saturdays, 9 to 10 am, online. A club leader from Surehand’s own team leads every session.
- Session 1
Pick an idea and start building
The club leader helps each kid choose an idea they can finish in two sessions. They ask for the first version, check the plan, tap Build it, and it's ready in about 20 seconds.
- Then
Make it theirs
They keep asking for changes, like more questions, new colors, or a score. Each change is planned, built, and saved as a new version.
- Between sessions
Play it at home
The app is saved, so they can play it and show the family. Changes wait for the next session, when the club leader is there.
- Session 2
Playtest, fix, and finish
Kids play each other's apps and tell each other what's fun and what's confusing. Then each kid picks what to fix and asks for the changes, with the club leader helping.
- Last 10 minutes
Demo for parents
Each kid shows what they built and how it works.
Apps stay offline
Apps built in App Lab can't reach the internet, and they're never built to ask anyone for names, emails, or photos.
Your child's name stays out
The AI that builds the app never gets your child's name, and a shared link never shows it.
Camera off, nothing recorded
Kids talk with the club leader by microphone. The camera stays off unless your child says yes.
Is it a good fit?
- No coding or fast typing needed: kids can say what they want out loud
- Kids who like games and quizzes, and want to make one
- Kids start together on session 1, so sign up before a group begins
$40 a session
2 sessions. Nothing to pay when you sign up: we email a payment link once the session is confirmed.
Questions about App Lab
Does my child need to know how to code?
No. Kids describe what they want, and AI on our platform writes the code. The club leader shows them how to test it, spot what's wrong, and ask for changes until it works. They never need their own AI account.
Isn't the AI doing all the work?
The AI writes the code. Your child decides what the app is, checks every plan before it's built, tests the result, and decides what to fix. That's the part that takes thinking, and it's what the club leader coaches.
What kind of app can they build?
Something small enough to finish in two sessions, like a quiz about their favorite animal, a simple game, or a reading or chore tracker. The club leader helps each kid trim their idea so it's done by the demo.
Can they keep working on it at home?
They can play it at home anytime. Changes happen during sessions, when the club leader is there to help.
Who plays my child's app?
In session 2, the other kids in the group play it and tell your child what works and what's confusing. Outside the group, only people you send a link to can open it.
Can we share the app?
Yes, if you want. Your child's app is saved on their App Lab card in your family's workspace, where you can play it anytime. To let family and friends try it, make a link there and send it to them. Only people with the link can open it, it never shows your child's name, and you can turn it off anytime. Apps built in App Lab can't reach the internet, and they're never built to ask anyone for names, emails, or photos.
What does my child need?
A laptop, Chromebook, or iPad with a microphone. The camera stays off unless your child says yes, and nothing is recorded. After you sign up, we email you a private link to finish setup.
Can my child join for the second session?
No, kids start together on session 1, since that's when they pick an idea and start building. If a group has already started, we'll save your child a spot in the next one.
