What your child gets

What they learn, what they make, and what you see

They learn

  • A homework routine

Homework starts at 4 on the days they come, without a reminder from you.

  • Asking for help clearly

They try first, raise a hand when they're stuck, and explain what they tried. The club leader helps them find the next step instead of handing over the answer.

  • Keeping track of what's due

If you connect their school account, their screen shows what's due this week, so they don't have to remember it all.

They finish

Homework done, with help when it counts

The hour is for their own homework, with a club leader there the moment they get stuck.

You get

A note after every session

The club leader tells you what your child worked on and what got done, plus a short wrap-up at the end of the week.

How it works

How an afternoon goes

Monday to Thursday, 4 to 5 pm, online, from home. A club leader from Surehand’s own team leads every session.

  1. 4:00

    Log on from home

Your child opens Homework Club on a laptop or tablet. If you've connected their school account, what's due this week is on their screen.

  2. The hour

Everyone works on their own homework

Kids don't hear each other while they work, so it stays quiet.

  3. When they're stuck

    Raise a hand

They tap Raise my hand and see their place in line. When it's their turn, the club leader talks with them one on one, and the others can't hear. They can send a picture of their work, too.

  4. After 5:00

    Your note

The club leader sends you a note on what your child worked on and what got done.

  • Camera off, nothing recorded

The camera turns on only if your child says yes, for 3 minutes at most, and every time is listed in your note.

  • Only what's in the club

The club leader sees what your child types and photographs in Homework Club, never their screen. School work shows only if you turn it on.

  • No school, no session

There's no Homework Club on holidays and school breaks, and you don't pay for them.

Is it a good fit?

  • Kids who head home after school with a parent, nanny, or sitter
  • Kids who can do most of their homework on their own, but get stuck sometimes

$20 a session

Pay only for the days your child comes. Nothing to pay when you sign up: we email a payment link once the session is confirmed.

Questions about Homework Club

How is Homework Club different from tutoring pods?

Homework Club is a place to get homework done, with a club leader online to help when your child gets stuck. Pods are tutoring: a Surehand tutor teaches your child's class unit, with practice built around it. If your child needs help catching up on a subject, a pod is the better fit.

Who is Homework Club for?

Kids who head home after school, with a parent, nanny, or sitter. Homework Club runs Monday to Thursday, 4 to 5 pm, so your child has time for a snack before logging on. Pick the days that work, and change them anytime. If your child is in an after-school program until 5, the Saturday clubs are usually a better fit.

How does one club leader help the whole group?

Each kid works on their own homework. When your child raises their hand, the club leader talks with them one on one, and the other kids can't hear, so nobody gets interrupted. If a few kids have a hand up, they wait in line and see their place. Kids hear each other only when the leader brings the group together.

Does the club leader give my child the answers?

No. The club leader asks what they tried and helps them find the next step, so your child does the work and knows how they got there.

What does the club leader see?

What your child types, and photos your child takes of their work, inside Homework Club. Never their screen or anything else on the device. If you've connected your child's school account to Surehand, you can choose to let the club leader see what's due at school in the next week, how each class is going, recent grades, and teacher comments on the work, so your child doesn't have to remember it all. That's off unless you turn it on, and the club leader never sees school emails or anyone else in your family.

Is there Homework Club when school is closed?

No. On holidays and school breaks there's no Homework Club, and you don't pay. If only your child's school is closed that day, we'll ask whether your child is still coming.

What if my child has no homework that day?

Your child can skip that day: tell us 24 hours before and you don't pay. Or they can come and practice in SOFE, with the club leader there to help.

What does my child need?

A laptop or tablet with a microphone and camera. The camera stays off unless your child says yes, either to show the club leader something, like a worksheet, or when the leader asks. It turns off after 3 minutes, every time it was on is listed in your note, and nothing is ever recorded. After you sign up, we email you a private link to finish setup: say yes to how Homework Club works and connect your child's device. There's no password to remember.
